Kia ora koutou
We have had trouble keeping grass on the school playing field in recent years. Further investigation indicated that 50 years of children playing on the playing field has compacted the surface to a point where it has become necessary to rotary hoe and level our playing field before sowing new grass seed. We have also elected to install irrigation as part of this project to ensure we can maintain a good grass surface through the hot Canterbury months of summer.
In order for us to be able to have this project completed by the start of the 2018 school year, our playing field area will be fenced off on Saturday 2nd December, 2017 allowing the contractor to spray the field to kill the grass and weeds. Children will not be able to use the playing field during the last 8 ½ days of this school year. Please note that spaying will be done during the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of December (weather permitting).
The contractor will begin the hoeing and levelling of our playing field on Friday 15th December, 2017. He will also be working with the contractor to allow our new bike track to be installed over the Christmas holiday period.
All going well both contractors are confident children will be back on our playing field and able to use the bike track when they return to school in 2018.
